The busiest day of this busy year was May 17th, 2014. The long anticipated day of Benjamin’s graduation dawned and we had family and friends gathered from near and far. The girls had a dress rehearsal in the morning after which Windy sold her first car which she inherited from her grandma when she turned 16, a 1967 VW Fastback “Helga.” No sooner than the title was notarized and cash handed over we rushed off to the dance recital only to leave that early for Ben’s graduation ceremony. We came home to a lot of love and a party catered Windy’s mom, DeeDee.
Benjamin Shaffer, J.D. 2014 |
Elnorra 9. 4th Grade |
In February Benjamin found a law job in Utah, and we started packing the books and wall art in March and put our first house on the market. We moved in May, the day the girls got out of school. Ben spent the summer subletting an apartment in Salt Lake City while studying for the bar exam. The rest of us lived at Boy Scout camp and Ben came to visit most weekends. In August we were grateful to stay with the big crowd at Mary Shaffer’s home during the extended house hunting and closing process. For a while there were 16 of us sharing her three bedroom, one bath house. We finally closed on our new home on Sept 15th in Spanish Fork UT. We have put in a lot of time and effort and money to give it the love and updating it needed and finally moved our stuff out of storage 2 months later, just in time to host a large crowd for Thanksgiving a week and a half later.
Benjamin Shaffer, J.D. finished law school and is working as a paralegal until he passes the bar exam. We moved to his job with Drew Briney Law and are happy he has such an amazing colleague and friend to work with.
Cordelia is in second grade and sharp as a tack. She is a fun loving kid who definitely knows her own mind. She lost her two front teeth, and can sing the Christmas song about it.
Adelaide turns 5 on New Year’s Day and is a sweet and quiet child except when it’s bed time then she chatters on for hours. She loves play dates with her friends. She recently discovered the love of drawing.
Gwendolyn will be 2 soon and is blossoming as a little person, she has acquired a lot of words and loves to talk and her new skill is to climb and get what she wants! She’s our philosopher as she really thinks about all she does.
