2015 Shaffer Family Newsletter
Happy Holidays from our family to yours!
Cordelia is 8 and in the 3rd grade. I was excited to learn some gymnastics this summer, and we played a lot at a water park and fun centers with annual passes. I built a snowman at school. I am happy to have new friends. I was baptized. My primary program was great and a lot of my family came to watch it. I like my new school outfit Grandee bought me when she visited this summer and I wore it in my picture. I'm learning to use computers and love to get email Cordelia.s212@stu.nebo.edu.
Elnorra-10 This year I started 5th
grade. Choir is really exiting. I am very glad that I got to do Gymnastics it
was very, very fun I got to do lots of fun things in gymnastics. This year I
got a new kitten and he so cute and cuddly the little picture next to mine is a
picture of my kitten. This year Grandee came over and we got to do our first
day of school shopping. The first time it snowed here I tried to build a
snowman at morning recess but every time I would try to put on the body or the
head it would all crumble into lots and lots of tiny pieces. It was very
annoying, but also very fun. Last
Christmas was awesome I got to go and visit my family in Arizona it was
really fun to be able to go down there to visit it was really exciting to be
where I used to live. I love to receive email at my school email address which is Elnorra.s198@stu.nebo.edu.
Benjamin- 35 ½ I have had a challenging and, at
times, very discouraging year. I didn’t pass the bar exam as planned, and am
now preparing to retake it in February. It is frustrating to have a law degree
but be unable to use it build a legal profession. I’ve done a couple low paying
jobs, but have been unable to make anything like a stable living this year. It
hasn’t been all doom and gloom though, I climbed Mt Timpanogos, enjoyed being
close to family and friends in Utah, and wrote, read and listened to many
engaging books. I was able to mark the milestones as my beautiful daughters
grow, especially the joy if baptizing Cordelia. We finished repairing the house
and even got a nice little flock of backyard chickens. I even discovered the
distraction and fun of Facebook and Minecraft and the many things you can
design and build in that simple, yet addictive, medium.
Windy-40 After the busy year moving and
graduating last year this year has been nicely low key. My little instrument repair business has kept me very busy since I opened shop
in the spring. The kids are growing and
my days are filled with the daily drama of raising 4 lively girls, shop work, housekeeping, and making music. I still enjoy playing my
tuba in a local band and orchestra and doubling on my cello when there aren't tuba parts to play or make up from the string bass parts. I played in my 21st annual TUBACHRISTMAS this year. I also expanded my horizons by recently
attending a Violin repair 101 clinic at my trade organization. A whole new world waits if I can find string
instruments to fix…
